What Are You Investing In?

Even I am guilty of this –
not enough money,
enough time,
enough patience:
to take care of myself,
to do ten pushups in the morning,
to take five minutes for internal reflection.
The excuse monster is ugly, makes you self-sacrificial, and has crazy ninja skills that allows it to lurk in your subconscious virtually undetected.
Take a minute to humor me.
Deep breath in… now out…
Clear your head of all of the “but”s and “I don’t have enough”s.

Now picture:
What does your best self look like?
What do you feel like when you take care of yourself the way you know you should?
How does life look?

My best self is relaxed chaos,
full of clarity,
with a bright positive energy emanating from within –
the kind of inner-light that seems to permeate your every pore and makes you just glow.

Now: the even more important question is how do you get there?

Out-Jedi your excuse monster.

Admit and accept that it exists –
you have to know that it’s there in order to ignore and conquer it.

When you catch your excuse monster creeping in, take a second to reason it out…

Processed foods are less expensive and less time consuming…
Add those doctor’s and dentist’s bills in.
Plus the vitamins you have to take because you aren’t getting the whole foods –

Not enough time to work out…
Exercise INCREASES energy!
Focus on a bigger picture – less energy=more time to do every day tasks.
And more time shopping for bigger pants.

Not enough patience to meditate… **
Meditation can INCREASE patience, brain productivity, and relaxation.
Not to mention it cures that monkey brain.
** All you non-woowoo types just stick with me.
I have more to say on practical meditation later on.

Ms. Gabrielle Bernstein said it best,
“If you say, ‘I don’t have time to meditate.’ I respond, ‘Do you have time to feel like crap?”

If you don’t have the time to say a prayer or move your body in some way everyday –
If you don’t have the money to buy fruits and vegetables –
If you don’t have the patience to meditate, get organized, write a budget…

What do exactly are you investing your time, money, and patience in?
